GT Stewart successfully defended J at Luton Crown Court following a trial lasting 7 days.

J stood trial regarding one allegation of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. It was alleged he punched his ex-wife to the face, breaking her nose, whilst she was holding their young child.

J strongly denied the allegation and provided evidence at trial. The defence were able to effectively cross-examine the prosecution witnesses at court which uncovered damning inconsistencies in their evidence.

The jury duly returned a verdict of not guilty. Had J been convicted it would have had a catastrophic effect on his prospects of seeking contact of his only child.

J was represented by Will Russell and Kevin Williams of the Private Client Department, and at trial by defence counsel Ravinder Saimbhi of 33 Bedford Row Chambers.
