GT Stewart secured the acquittal of a client charged with the most serious offence of Wounding (s.20) which the Crown submitted involved our client using a 5’ piece of wood against the complainant which caused significant injury. The Magistrates’ Court concluded that the case was too serious for the Magistrates’ Court and he was committed to the Crown Court for trial. He was represented by Philip Mahoney, Solicitor-Advocate who advised him to enter a not guilty plea to the charge against him. Ultimately the Crown offered no evidence and a Not Guilty Verdict was recorded.
